HUNDREDS of people attended the official launch of Friends of Preston Lodge at the Prestonpans high school.

Students and staff helped put on tours as well as entertaining guests who arrived at the school and were treated to canapes and drinks.

The hall and corridors were packed with memorabilia collected from former pupils in the months leading up to the launch.

And there were films about the school past and present on show.

Headteacher Gavin Clark was joined by former heads Willie Galbraith and David Allan, and former pupils were able to add their names to photographs on display.

Mr Clark said: “The launch of Friends of Preston Lodge was an amazing event, with about 300 people attending a very memorable Preston Lodge night.

“Participants were treated to some great music, some great canapes and some lovely drinks whilst they poured over a vast collection of memorabilia, toured the school, watched films and caught up with old friends.

“I would like to thank the staff, students and members of our community who made it such a wonderful occasion.”

The exhibition remained open to the public throughout the week.

Friends of Preston Lodge is a new network for anyone who has an interest in the school’s past, present or future. It already has more than 1000 members on its Facebook community.

It aims to build a network across the community that will foster good relations between pupil, former pupils and local businesses, as well as offer support.
