POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was struck in the face by a flower bud after she challenged three boys who were throwing them at her car.

The 46-year-old woman reported the assault after she confronted the youths as they threw rosehip buds at her car on Appin Road, Prestonpans, on Sunday.

She told officers she was walking on the street with her son when she saw the group and confronted them, at around 6pm.

One of the youngsters, who were described as being aged around 12 or 13 and wearing hooded tops, threw the bud at her face.

Constable Jacqueline Maurer said: "While she was not seriously hurt, this was a very unpleasant experience for the victim and we are keen to hear from anyone who can assist with our inquiries.

"If you were in the area at the time and witnessed what happened then please come forward."
