POLICE are hunting a vandal who smashed the window of a house in the early hours of New Year’s Day while its elderly residents were inside.
Pensioner Alan Eeles condemned the attack on his home in Prestonpans. The incident, on Appin Drive, happened at about 1.30am.
He said: “The stone was thrown with such velocity that it smashed a double glazed window.
"The distance from the pavement to his target was approximately 20 feet – now that takes a great deal of force.
“Drunk or sober, there was no excuse. The cost of replacement [is] £180, and this out of our old age pension.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in East Lothian are investigating following a report of a window being damaged on Appin Drive, Prestonpans.
“Call 101 with information.Inquiries are currently ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
