TWO teenager have been charged in connection with more than 30 incidents linked to a series of fires, in Prestonpans.
The youths, aged 15 and 16, were arrested following a police and fire service investigation into the fires, which occured in wheelie bins, waste bins and even a bus shelter.
Police said the teenagers were facing charges in connection with the incidents which happened in the town between September 19 and October 18.
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the Children’s Reporter.
Community Inspector Andy Harborow said: “Wilful fire-raising is a reckless and dangerous criminal activity which we take extremely seriously.
“Local Community officers and East Lothian Community Action Team are committed to working with our colleagues in the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to prevent these kinds of incidents from occurring and bring those responsible to justice.”
