FIREFIGHTERS were called out to the Pennypit, in Prestonpans, on Sunday evening after a teenager became “trapped” in an enclosed football pitch.
The fire crew were called to the pitch after the alarm was raised at about 8.20pm and used a short extension ladder to free the penned-in youth.
A spokesperson for the Pennypit Centre said they were not made aware of the incident, pointing out the centre was closed on a Sunday evening and no staff would have been working there at the time.
Pitches at the Pennypit are locked up at night following a spate of vandalism incidents.
Last week, Preston Athletic Football Club were victims to a break-in on their grounds next to the public pitches, when paint was spilled over the stand and dug-out and broken glass left strewn across the ground.
