A 37-year-old man has been arrested after police in Prestonpans seized a quantity of heroin whilst on routine patrol.
The two officers were walking down the town's High Street, when they came across the man. 

It is alleged they discovered a quantity of heroin on his person and he has been charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act and a report sent to the Procurator Fiscal. 
Sergeant John Forrester who is based in Haddington, said: "Thanks to the excellent police work by both PC's, a quantity of Class A drugs have been removed from the local community.
"This is an excellent example of proactive policing and underlines our commitment to tackle head-on anyone involved in this illicit and dangerous trade.
"I want to reassure the public that we will always act on information passed to us and I would appeal to anyone who is suspicious of drug dealing activity in your local area to contact the Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
