Bike theft stuns rider

A NORTH BERWICK motorcyclist has been left 'frustrated' after the bike that he races in events across Scotland was stolen last week.

Liam Lamb"s Yamaha YZ250, worth £1500, was taken from the outskirts of Dirleton between noon on Monday, June 30 and 8am on Tuesday, July 1.

The 18-year-old, who is a member of the Melville Motor Club based at East Fortune pointed out that the theft could not have come at a worse time for him as he is trying to gain invaluable experience in the Sportsman Enduro cross country series.

He said: 'This is really frustrating as this is my first full year competing

'We are half way through the season and I am missing out .

'I can"t get my head round why anyone would steal it.'

Some of the distinguishing features of the bike are: a twisted rear mudguard;"#189" printed in white numbers on black on three panels; a gold rear sprocket and "kayaba" written on the front suspension forks .

Liam is hopeful that an ongoing problem with the bike could make it easily identifiable. He said: 'It has had problems with the gearbox and the person who stole it will probably need to go to a dealer soon to get it replaced.'
