TEAM Leuchie have been put through their paces ahead of the Total Warrior challenge next month.

Intrepid staff and supporters of Leuchie House have signed up for the fearsome 12-kilometre obstacle course that will see competitors overcome fire, mud and ice to raise money for the charity, which is based just outside North Berwick.

Fitness trainer Jaki Tout has been getting the seven-strong team in shape ahead of the gruelling event on September 12.

Jaki, who volunteers in the physiotherapy department at Leuchie House, said: “All the Leuchie participants have been training hard for this challenge and, with just three weeks to go, I thought it would be a good idea to get them together for a workout to prepare them for what will be a tough course.” The Total Warrior challenges are notoriously physically demanding and Leuchie’s fundraising manager, Alison Cameron, said: “I’m constantly amazed by the lengths people will go to for Leuchie.

“The money raised by Team Leuchie will be a great addition to our ongoing fundraising efforts – and we are all looking forward to cheering them on as Balgone [where the event is being held] is so nearby.” There will be about 30 ‘extreme’ obstacles throughout the course, billed as “the ultimate test of stamina, strength and determination”.
