Two kind-hearted university students have raised more than £15,000 after a 10-day journey between Edinburgh and Paris.

One of the charities set to benefit from the ‘Pedal-Paddle-Puff’ epic is Leuchie House, based just outside North Berwick.

The ambitious fundraiser saw Patrick Russell, known as Patch, and Geordie Tulloch cycle from the Capital to Dover, before rowing across the Channel, and then running four marathons in five days to complete their epic endurance test.

The Edinburgh University students arrived in the French capital on Saturday evening, and the pair were delighted to have completed their epic fundraiser. They’ve raised £15,653 – with donations still flowing in.

The intrepid duo chose Leuchie as one of their charities as Geordie’s family have been involved with the respite care home for a number of years.

Patrick told the Courier: “The challenge was fantastic. It was an experience like no other where we both went through every emotion.

“The challenge itself was immensely difficult – at times we thought we wouldn’t be able to get up the next day and carry on but somewhere each morning we pushed on and made it.” Mairi O’Keefe, Leuchie chief executive, added: “We are so proud of Patch and Geordie’s incredible achievement – and overwhelmed that Leuchie is one of the charities that will benefit.

“Staff and guests have been following their progress and cheering them on from the house and we are all so grateful, and relieved, they have made it!

“It was also lovely that Geordie’s mother – who is one of Leuchie House’s trustees – was able to attend our Ascot Gold Cup Tea fundraiser the day before she joined the lads as they finished their challenge. “She actually won on a horse called Trip to Paris – then donated the money to the boys’ challenge!” To make a donation, visit justgiving.com/PatchandGeordie
