Television star Alan Davies is to appear at this year’s Fringe by the Sea in North Berwick.

Davies, a regular on television quiz show QI and well-known for starring in Jonathan Creek, is to play Comedy & Crisps at the county festival on August 13 at the Speigeltent at the harbour.

It will be the 49-year-old’s first appearance at Fringe by the Sea, and he adds to a stellar cast being assembled by organisers ahead of this year’s event.

Joining Davies will be Barry Cryer and Ronnie Golden - the veteran comedians making their appearance at Big Comic Friday at the Speigeltent.

Meanwhile, on both August 12-13, Ray Bradshaw will entertain the crowds at the Masonic Hall in North Berwick.

The former Scottish Comedian of the Year finalist is billed as one of the most entertaining new acts on the Scottish comedy scene, despite having made his comedy debut in September 2008.

And Irishman Jarlath Regan makes what organisers describe as “a welcome return” to the Fringe by the Sea line-up.

They join the likes of Joan Armatrading, Eddi Reader and Phil Cunningham and Ally Bain among the acts for this year’s Fringe by the Sea, which runs between August 10-16 in North Berwick.
