North Berwick Rowing Club will host its annual regatta at the West Beach tomorrow (Saturday), with clubs from all over Scotland set to descend on the town.

The event, which has one of the longer courses in the St Ayles skiff calendar, starts at the old pier and heads around Craigleith before returning to the start – a disance of a mile and a half.

Among the 11 clubs taking part, from as far afield as Wester Ross, are Portobello, Anstruther and Coigach, who will be hoping to maintain their dominance, while there will be a full East Lothian representation at the regatta.

Alongside the host club, Dunbar, Boatie Blest from Port Seton and Eskmuthe from Musselburgh will all take their place at the regatta this weekend.

Club convenor Dave Davidson said: “All the clubs love coming to North Berwick and our members have prepared an excellent day of competition. We have trained very hard for this and we expect to have success in several of the races.” People are being urged to support the teams from the harbour wall, or at the Hope Rooms, where there will be live commentary.
