There are just days to go until visitors flock to North Berwick for the annual Fringe by the Sea festival.

The week-long extravaganza gets under way on Monday with a gig from Julie Fowlis, who performed at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony at Celtic Park.

She plays the Palais des Glaces Spiegeltent at 8pm, with tickets priced at £20.

The following night is the turn of Eric Bibb, one of the world’s premier bluesmen, who performs at the same venue at 8.30pm on Tuesday.

He has enjoyed a four-decade career that has included 35 albums, and will add a performance at the North Berwick festival to his impressive career.

Another star will take to the town on Wednesday evening, with Stephen K Amos, a regular on Have I Got News For You and Mock the Week, playing ‘Big Comic Wednesday’ alongside Zoe Lyons and The Umbilical Brothers.

The festival is also running themed days, which include Beach Day and Valuation Day, with special one-offs of 2020 Vision and guided walks around the town and further afield.

There will be donkeys on East Beach on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am until 5pm, while surfing lessons are on offer every day at 1.30pm, with a boot camp at 9.30am on Wednesday morning.

St Andrew Blackadder Church returns as one of the festival venues this year, and it will welcome Adam Holmes and the Embers on Wednesday night at 7.30pm, Rachel Sermanni next Thursday at 8pm and The Wrigley Sisters the following day.

Performances there will end with well-known folk duo Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain, who take to the stage next Saturday.

Tickets are still available for some events, but are selling fast.

Visit www.fringebythesea.com for tickets and for the full programme, with tickets also available in person at the roving beach hut, which is open from 10am to 10pm daily at the harbour.
