THE duo behind two new sculptures erected at the Scottish Seabird Centre will host a special evening next Thursday (April 24) to discuss their work.

The volunteers at the seabird centre are hosting the event, where artists Diane Maclean and Kenny Hunter will talk about the concepts behind their designs for the arch and The Watcher, and explore the full artistic process from concept to installation.

The duo were selected following 30 original artist submissions, a public exhibition and public vote.

Sandy Forrest, chair of the Scottish Seabird Centre Volunteer Group, said: “The sculptures have created a real buzz around the centre so we thought it fitting to give visitors the opportunity to meet the artists behind these wonderful creations – at a one-off exclusive event at the centre.

“This will be a real insight into all the hard work that went into creating these striking sculptures and how it feels as an artist to have a concept that starts off as a sketch and is brought to life.

“All the money raised on the night will be invested into the conservation and education work undertaken by the seabird centre.

“Not only that but the winner of the ‘Name the Arch’ competition will also be announced and presented by artist Diane Maclean, which will be very exciting.” Tickets (£5 or £4 for seabird centre members) for the event, which starts at 7.30pm, include a glass of wine/refreshment and are available from the admissions desk at the centre or on the night.
