PUPILS from Law Primary School presented a Second World War exhibit last weekend after delving into their families’ and the county’s past.

More than 60 P6 pupils spent three weeks researching and collating information about the war after learning about it at school, before putting on an exhibit at North Berwick’s Coastal Communities Museum for parents, family members and other pupils.

Clare Brodie, P6 class teacher, said: “The two classes were set the homework task of creating a museum exhibit.

“The quality was such that we got in contact with the Coastal Communities Museum to ask if we could use it to create an exhibition for pupils and parents.” The pupils switched roles from exhibitioners to tour guides as they showed parents around the range of displays, which incorporated treasured historical items owned by their families, while also giving a history lesson.

“The standard was extraordinary, the personal stories which came out of the research are fascinating,” said Clare.

“It is wonderful to get children into the community, introduce them to the museum and bring the past to life for them.

“I think they thoroughly enjoyed the project.

“The parents were thrilled and very pleased with the quality of work.” Ian Goodall, trustee for the Coastal Communities Museum Trust, added: “There was a lot of fantastic material.

“It was quite moving and emotional looking at the original stuff that the kids pulled together.

“It was really tremendously well done.

“It was inspiring what they did.”
