Aerial acrobatics, a parade and a crowning ceremony will be some of the fun on offer to all the family at this year's North Berwick RNLI Lifeboat Fete, taking place tomorrow (Saturday).

Taking place once again at Elcho Green, where bumper crowds have enjoyed the festivities in recent years, this year's fete is gearing up to be one of the best yet, with plenty to keep all-comers entertained.

Kicking things off will be the annual parade through the town, with various local groups attending, starting at 12.30pm and reaching Elcho Green at about 1pm.

Once there, Rear Admiral Neil Rankin, North Berwick councillor, and his wife, Jill, will crown Law Primary School student Molly Stevenson as lifeboat queen, with classmates Maia Berney and Emma Ramsay supporting as her attendants.

Fete goers can then enjoy all the fun of the fete, with an air display from a visiting stunt pilot over the West Bay a prime attraction.

The more energetic can enjoy an army assault course while those wanting a more relaxed Saturday can browse the stalls and food outlets selling burgers, chips and much more. Kids, meanwhile, can let off all that holiday energy on a bouncy castle.

Plenty of prizes will also be on offer at the raffle, with the top prize being laser eye surgery from Optical Express.

Malcolm Baker, of North Berwick RNLI, said the fete was always great fun for all those who attended and that there would be plenty of prizes to tempt people to take part.

"Everybody looks forward to it, it raises good money, it's a good fun for everyone and families and children really enjoy it too," he added.

"We hopes for good crowds and plenty of fun for all this weekend and would like to encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the day."

The fete is run each year by the crew of North Berwick RNLI and is their major

fundraising event of the year, though Mr Baker said that there was no specific target which he hoped the festivities would raise.
