A SPATE of thefts from homes and businesses in North Berwick is being investigated by police.

The incidents include thefts on three consecutive days last month and were outlined to North Berwick Community Council in a report submitted by local officers.

The first incident took place overnight between May 3 and 4, when an attempt was made to steal an electric push bike chained up at the back of a house on Quality Street.

The padlock and chain were cut but the bike was not taken.

Between May 19 and 21, a house on Fidra Road was broken into and a quantity of jewellery stolen.

During the afternoon of May 28, two men entered the town’s Aldi and stole a quantity of chocolate.

The following day, a woman stole a sweatshirt from Great Escape on High Street.

And on May 30, staff at Wilkies reported the theft of a pair of shoes.

Two rolls of lead were stolen from the building site at the former Blenheim House Hotel at Westgate overnight between May 31 and June 1.

Finally, a quantity of cosmetics were stolen from Smith’s Pharmacy on High Street on June 1.

Enquiries on all incidents are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101.
