A TEENAGER from North Berwick will follow in famous footsteps when he performs in a dance show in London at the weekend.

Euan Garrett will take to the stage at the Shaw Theatre to perform Brief Encounters, emulating international stars such as Drew McOnie, Lily James and Daisy Ridley.

The 13-year-old will tread the boards with fellow students from the prestigious Tring Park Performing Arts School in Hertfordshire, which he has been attending since last September.

He was the last boy to play the role of young Billy in the smash-hit musical Billy Elliot before it left the West End and went on a UK tour.

The county-born starlet, a former Law Primary School pupil who also attended Dunbar School of Dancing, has performed in Lord of the Flies as well as Scottish Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker.

His mum Dawn said: “Euan had rhythm from a very young age and has always been passionate about dance.

“We were over the moon when he got the place at Tring Park School as it is the best place for him as he will progress so much there.

“And as well as all of the dancing and performing experience he is getting, the school also focuses on the students’ academic studies, so Euan has a very busy week.

“Euan is really looking forward to performing in Brief Encounters as he is loving the opportunity to rehearse and work with the sixth formers at the school and the cast of the Encore Dance Company, who are also Tring Park students.”

Inspired by the 1945 film Brief Encounter, which was set in an idyllic country railway station before the Second World War, Brief Encounters follows the lives of people through three decades, exploring love and laughter, conflict and coronations, film stars and fantasies all through the medium of dance.

Brief Encounters will be at the Shaw Theatre in London on Sunday.
