A NORTH Berwick man who has worked with East Lothian Council’s Countryside Ranger Service for more than three decades has called it quits.

Bobby Anderson retired after 32 years with the service at the end of last month, having started out at Gullane in a seasonal post.

Since then, he has worked full-time at John Muir Country Park before then taking on the senior role for the east of East Lothian.

A spokesman for East Lothian Conservation Volunteers, who regularly worked with him, told the Courier that he would be missed.

He said: “Friend, mentor, colleague, champion of wild places, font of local knowledge, ace organiser and excellent company.

“We wish Bobby a very happy retirement.”
