THE Post Office in North Berwick is to close for more than a week next month.
An extensive refurbishment of the town’s Post Office will be carried out, upgrading the facility, between September 5 and 13.
A letter to the town’s community council confirmed doors would close at 5.30pm on September 5, before reopening just over a week later, at 1pm.
As well as a change in the look of the interior of the building, the Post Office opening times will also be altered.
Their new opening hours will be 8am-5.45pm Monday to Friday, while they will open until 1pm on Saturdays.
Community councillors were concerned as to how elderly residents would collect their pensions.
Councillor Tim Day, ward member, was quick to pointed out there were Post Offices nearby.
He said: “There’s a Post Office in Dirleton, although it’s only part-time. There is one in Gullane as well.”
