PLANS to create a business and education hub on land surrounding Queen Margaret University will be presented to the public this month.

The university is holding two consultations over their proposals, with one in The Brunton on Wednesday, September 9, and a second at the university itself the following day.

Both events will be held between 2pm and 8pm and are open to the public to drop in and discuss the plans.

The university has made it clear it wants to use the land to create specialist facilities it believes will support local businesses and make the most of its current work and research.

It has lodged a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to East Lothian Council for the hub, which it says will nurture new enterprise and unlock the growth potential that will benefit communities in East Lothian and the surrounding counties.

Professor Petra Wend, Principal, said: “I can confirm we are formulating plans for the development of a commercial and innovation hub adjacent to the campus.

“We are of the strong belief that our proposals will deliver long-term benefits to the region and I very much hope that the local community will help us shape those plans over the coming months through our consultation process.”
