A MUSSELBURGH woman has raised more than £1,500 in memory of local footballer Jordan Houston by taking on a terrifying skydive.

Sian Carlyle was inspired to take on the challenge because her younger brother played in the same team as Jordan, who died aged 11.

Jordan, who played for Musselburgh Windsor football club, had a rare brain tumour, and would have turned 16 this year had he survived.

His family set up the Jordan Houston Trust in 2012 to help children and their families who are affected by cancer.

Sian travelled to Las Vegas to take part in the 15,000ft sponsored skydive, and covered her own costs so all money raised could go to the trust.

And this week she presented the trust with £1,554 raised by the plane jump.

Sian was joined at the presentation by young members of Musselburgh Windsor FC. The club held a raffle in aid of the trust at its end of season presentation and raised £654 which then surpassed the £1,000 mark by an additional donation.

Scott Robertson, Windsor chairman, said: “Our teams, coaches and players supported by their parents were only too pleased to back this wonderful charity.” The club donated a further £400 to the £654 raised by the raffle. Jordan’s mum Chloe attended the presentation on behalf of the Trust.

She said: “I know for sure that Jordan would appreciate the Windsor’s support and be very proud to have his team back Sian and his Trust.

“We would like to say thank you to everyone who donated, we really appreciate the support.

“We are extremely grateful to Sian and Musselburgh Windsor for all that they have done, a huge amount was raised and will help many families.’ The Jordan Houston Trust is a registered charity (SC043143).
