ARMY cadet Dillon Thomson was named his local troop’s cadet of the year as they held an open evening.

14 Troop Musselburgh Army Cadets, one of five detachments with East Lothian’s Kohima Company, held the evening at their Goose Green base to let people see the activities they get up to and opportunities available to youngsters who join up.

Dillon was voted top cadet by his peers for his hard work, enthusiasm and ability to work within the cadets’ core values and received his award in front of a gathering of troop leaders, fellow cadets and families.

The Army Cadet Force offers a range of adventures and military-style activities for young people aged 12-18, as well as a number of well-known national qualifications such as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

14 Troop Musselburgh are currently recruiting for new cadets and anyone interested in finding out more is welcome to visit their base at Goose Green Crescent to find out more.
