CANON Joseph McMullan has left his post at Our Lady of Loretto and St Michael’s Church, Musselburgh, after 23 years of service.
Canon Joe, as he was known locally, has moved to a new position, becoming parish priest of Our Lady of the Waves, Dunbar and St Mary’s in Haddington, and will be living in Dunbar.
The role of parish priest in Musselburgh has been taken over by Father Basil Clark.
Councillor John McNeil, a member of the parish, said Canon McMullan would be sadly missed in the town.
He said: “Canon Joe served our community for 23 years and, of course, we are sad to lose him. This is a smaller parish for him.
“Father Basil Clark is a younger man and I am delighted he has been given this opportunity.”
