A MAN walking with the aid of crutches was assaulted and robbed by three men in a "vicious" attack in Musselburgh.

The incident happened between 4.14pm and 4.45pm on Hercus Loan last Tuesday.

The 56-year-old man was approached by three men, who proceeded to assault him and rob him of his bag of groceries.

The three men then made off in the direction of Carlyle Place.

The first suspect is described as white, 6 ft 3in tall, early 20s, with dark hair, a bushy, unkempt beard and bad teeth.

The second suspect is white and 5ft 4in tall, and the third suspect is white, 6ft 5in tall, muscular build, late teens, with a fresh, youthful face.

The victim received minor injuries and police are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

PC Richard Edwards said: "The man who was assaulted and robbed walks with the aid of crutches, so this was a particularly vicious, unprovoked assault. "Anyone who was in the area of Hercus Loan, Musselburgh, between 4pm and 5pm on that day is urged to contact police immediately."
