MUSSELBURGH businessman Alex Brown got ahead in last Sunday’s charity KiltWalk in Edinburgh – by having his hair died in the colours of the Saltire!

Alex, who runs floor and carpet specialists Ideal Flooring in the town, as well as the children’s soft play area Jungle Gemz, took part in the fundraising walk in honour of his dad, who is battling cancer.

Alex, 53, is well on his way to reaching his fundraising goal of £2,000 for the KiltWalk, which supports various children’s charities.

The former boss of the Bronx Boxing Gym in Tranent, Alex has raised thousands of pounds for charities over the years.

He said his daughter Gemma helped create the colourful design on his head for the day.

He said: “There was a great atmosphere on the day and and so far I have had donations of £1,200. Once I collect all my sponsorship money I should hit my target.I want to thank everyone who donated to this for their kindness, it is for a very good cause.” The annual KiltWalk has the Sick Kids Friends Foundation as its charity partner this year.

The Scottish charity gives donations and grants to a range of children’s charities each year following the annual walks.
