POLICE officers in Musselburgh are continuing their efforts to target under-age drinking and anti-social behaviour.

East Lothian's Community Action Team (CAT) patrolled the town's streets last Friday and, as a result, alcohol was confiscated from two Musselburgh youths, both 17, on Eskview Terrace.

The same evening the CAT also confiscated alcohol from a 16-year-old female from Musselburgh on North High Street.

Foot patrol officers also attended the Brunton Hall following reports of under-age drinking and unruly behaviour.

A number of youths were found to be under the influence of alcohol, and were subsequently taken to their home addresses.

A male driver from Edinburgh was also caught in the town last Friday after officers observed a dark coloured Volkswagen Golf being driven erratically and at speed.

The 20-year-old was cautioned and issued with a fixed penalty notice in connection with the incident. Also last Friday, a 20-year-old Edinburgh man was arrested and charged with various offences including attempting to pervert the course of justice, racial breach of the peace, police obstruction and possession of cocaine following an incident at Olivebank Retail Park at about 11.50pm.

In other recent incidents, a quantity of cannabis was recovered from two Haddington men after they were stopped and searched by police on Edinburgh Road, Musselburgh last Wednesday.

The two men, aged 19 and 21, were both cautioned and charged with possession of drugs, and the driver was also cautioned and charged in connection with vehicle lighting regulations.
