Push on to secure town Fairtrade status

Comments (0) | Print | Email

MUSSELBURGH residents are working towards making the Honest Toun a Fairtrade town.

Linda Watson and Eilidh Williamson, both members of Musselburgh Community Council, are pushing the idea.

Said Linda: 'There is a fair bit of work to do but if we can get more cafes and shops and schools to sell Fairtrade goods then we would be closer to reaching our goal.'

In order to class itself as a Fairtrade town, Fairtrade products must be made available in retail outlets and served in local catering outlets, and a local Fairtrade steering group must be set up to ensure the campaign continues to develop and gain new support.
