A MUSSELBURGH man has admitted attacks using weapons including a baseball bat and a pair of pliers.

Jordan Dickson assaulted Brendan Shaw by striking him on the body with a baseball bat on Haddington High Street last April.

Dickson, of North High Street, then used a pair of metal pliers to strike Mark Hogan on the head during an attack at the town’s Mercat Hotel the following month.

Dickson, also assaulted his former partner by repeatedly biting her on the head and body and preventing her leaving an address at Tranent’s Plough Lane in June last year.

Allegations of attacking the woman by throwing a TV remote control at her and placing his hands around her neck and compressing it were dropped by the Crown.

Dickson admitted the three attacks when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Monday.

He also admitted breaching a bail order by entering Tranent after being told not to go near the town by a sheriff on May 8 last year. He was subsequently caught by police officers at the Plough Lane address on June 17 last year.

A fifth charge Dickson admitted was resisting arrest by throwing his arms about, refusing to exit the premises and buckling his legs in a bid to hinder two police officers during the June 17 incident.

The 22-year-old had not guilty pleas to five other charges, including assault and threatening behaviour, accepted by the Crown.

Sentence has been deferred to April 10.

Dickson admitted assaulting Mr Shaw with the baseball bat at High Street, Haddington, on April 10 last year.

He also admitted assaulting Mr Hogan in Haddington on May 7 last year and assaulting his former partner in Tranent on June 17 last year.

Dickson also pleaded guilty to breaching his bail conditions and to resisting, hindering or obstructing police officers in the execution of their duty in Tranent on June 17 last year.
