A PLAN for a £1 million indoor trampoline arena in Musselburgh has been given the green light by East Lothian Council.

Slough-based Jump In – which describes itself as the UK’s fastest-growing trampoline arena operator – hopes the venture at Newhailes Industrial Estate will bring 60 jobs to the Honest Toun.

The new centre, which could open in October, will be the first of its kind in East Lothian.

The planning application to change the use of unit 11 – previously a recycling centre –was approved by council planners.

The standards opening hours will be from 9am to 10pm seven days a week, although this may vary.

A total of 50 car parking spaces, including five disabled as well as eight cycle spaces, are proposed for the front of the building.

A report from Edinburgh-based Derek Scott Planning, acting on behalf of Jump In, stated that the facility would employ a total of 60 staff on a shift basis, with a maximum of 25 staff at weekends.

It would take more than 100 jumpers at any one time, with dodgeball areas, foam pits, tumbletracks, a safety briefing area and party rooms located on a new mezzanine level above the cafe and administration area.
