WHEN Natalie Farquhar pressed play to watch a video, little did she know that it contained a marriage proposal with a difference.

The 23-year-old was “overwhelmed” at the film, shot by budding videographer Danny Munro, which showed her one-year-old son Zac ‘popping the question’ on behalf of his dad.

The finale of the heart-warming video about the family’s life saw cute Zac appear wearing a ‘babygrow’ emblazoned with the words: “Mummy, will you marry my daddy?”

East Lothian Courier:

As it played, Zac’s dad Lewis Bowman, 28, who had whisked his partner Natalie away to a Glasgow hotel for a relaxing break, got down on one knee and proposed, presenting her with an engagement ring.

Overwhelmed at the romantic gesture last Thursday and reduced to tears of joy, Natalie, who is expecting their second child in July, said yes.

The professionally shot video has now captured the public’s imagination on social media, including YouTube, where it has attracted more than 4,000 views.

Lewis, a former pupil of Pinkie St Peters Primary and Musselburgh Grammar schools, told the Courier: “I didn’t want to do something that was average – I wanted to do something Natalie could always look back on.”

He said he was also keen that Zac should be involved, so contacted his friend Danny, of TLC Media, to see what surprise they could come up.

The video starts off with Lewis and Zac enjoying time in their local playpark and at the family home in Wallyford.

When it comes to story time, Zac opens a book of photographs of his parents’ time together – featuring snaps of how they met, their holidays together, Natalie’s pregnancy and Zac’s birth and first Christmas, and her pending pregnancy – which was compiled by Danny’s wife Billie.

This ends with ‘What’s Next?’, before Zac pops the question.

Lewis had taken an unsuspecting Natalie for a romantic meal at the hotel and when they returned to the honeymoon suite, which he had booked specially for the occasion, he played the video through the television.

Zac was staying with Natalie’s parents in Edinburgh at the time.

Natalie said: “I was totally lost for words when I watched the video, I cried the whole way through.

“Lewis is one in a million and I am very lucky to call him my fiancé.”

Danny said: “Lewis came to me based on previous work I had done.

“Together we wrote the perfect script, with the opening song aimed to distract Natalie from what was about to happen.

“The main scene – the book – was created to represent their lives from when they first met to ‘what’s next’ in the video.

“Natalie was blown away, in floods of happy tears and was more blown away when it was Zac who popped the question.”
