A FORMER Musselburgh Athletic player has been been banned from every football ground in Britain.

Brian Martin, a former captain of the Olive Bank club, was issued with a one-year football banning order and fined £800 for his part in the disturbances that marred the end of last May’s Scottish Cup final between Hibernian and Rangers.

The 31-year-old, who runs an electrical business in Musselburgh with his dad, watched Hibs win the cup for the first time in 114 years thanks to David Gray’s dramatic late winner.

He was one of hundreds of fans who invaded the pitch at full-time.

Martin was charged under the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act and pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Martin left SPFL League Two outfit Berwick Rangers in January, a year after joining the club from Musselburgh Athletic, and has now retired. He captained Burgh to the Scottish Junior Cup final in 2015 but they lost 2-1 to Auchinleck Talbot.
