MUSSELBURGH transgender singer Jordan Gray has a new single out on November 25 after signing a record deal since appearing on The Voice earlier this year.

Called ‘Platinum’, this is her first ‘official’ single, which it is hoped will have a good shot at the top 40 – that would make her the first openly transgender singer to hit the charts in the history of UK pop music.

East Lothian Courier:

Jordan, 27, who moved to the Honest Toun from Essex with mum Terri Olley last year, has been signed up by The Record Label, a London-based music production company.

She is set to record another two singles, which could lead to an album being produced.

This follows a 52-date tour of the country, appearing at national Pride events and other music festivals.

She told the Courier: “I went to record a song and they liked it.

“This has been a long time coming and is quite surreal.”

Jordan has been living as a woman for more than two years and is in the process of transitioning.

She has enjoyed a singing career for the last 10 years but performed as a male for the first eight.

She was one of three singers chosen by judge Paloma Faith to be in her team for the live shows of TV talent show The Voice and reached the semi-finals.

Her new single is available on iTunes and all good digital download stores, with pre-order now available. The music video, which is going to feature the first ever cis-male/trans-female love scene in a mainstream video, is due out on Tuesday next week.
