KIND-HEARTED pupils at Whitecraig Primary School have raised £2,825 to help fund research into cancer.

Children from the nursery to P7, as well as several parents and members of staff, ran the ‘Race for Life’ in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The youngsters chose how far they wanted to run with many of them deciding to complete five kilometres – 25 laps of the school.

Each participant received an orange donated by Tesco Musselburgh and a goody bag with water, sweets and a medal.

Organiser Jenny Clark, a teacher at the school, said: “They raised an absolutely amazing total.

It was a fantastic afternoon and it was lovely to see all of the children out taking part.

“Thanks to the volunteer adults who helped stamp the children at the end of their laps, give out oranges, water and sweets out on the day and to those that came along to show their support.

She added: “It truly was a great event and the children and parents of Whitecraig should be very proud of their achievement.”
