A Musselburgh art teacher's daughter, who was a finalist in the Miss Scotland contest, has raised around £1,000 for Shelter Scotland.

Although Rosalind Main, whose mum Louise teaches art at Musselburgh Grammar School, didn't win the competition at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on Friday, she "felt positive" about being selected and invited to take part.

Rosalind (22) from Edinburgh has hosted events and walks in aid of her chosen charity Shelter Scotland which helps more than half a million people a year struggling with bad housing or homelessness. Her employer Henderson's of Edinburgh has supported her by donating 50p for the sale of its healthy veggie pots to the charity during the Edinburgh Festival.

Rosalind, an artist who recently graduated with a BA in 3D Design, a;sp used her degree to make art installations around Edinburgh during the festival.

Shelter Scotland used to be a volunteer in the charity's Stockbridge shop.
