A "fantastic" parade wowed the crowds as Musselburgh's Riding of the Marches came to an end at the weekend.
Thousands of spectators lined the streets on Saturday as the Honest Toun resounded to a carnival atmosphere with bands, dancing, fancy dress and colourful floats, guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face.
Participants threw lollipops and sweets into the crowd, and handed out balloons.
This followed the formal turf cutting ceremony the night before when Turf Cutter Iain Clark, protected by Town Champion Neil Wilson, and accompanied by the event's other principals, rode round the burgh's 12 turf cutting stations to mark its ancient boundaries in a pageant which takes place very 21 years.
On each occasion, a cavalcade of horses and riders spurred on the crowds with their cries of 'Hip, Hip, Hurrah,' with a procession of former Honest Lads and Lasses, dressed in their whites, adding to Saturday's spectacle.
