THE following road closures and restrictions will be in place for Riding of the Marches.

Today (Thursday) during the Proclamation and Junior Ride, the Old Town Hall car park and the car park to the east will be closed 11am-1.30pm. Parking will also be banned 11am-4pm on both sides of Balcarres Road.

As the Junior Ride takes place, there will be temporary road closures while it passes on its route from Balcarres Road to Mercat Cross from 12.30pm via Millhill, Shorthope Street, the High Street and Pinkie Pillars.

The riders will then leave Mercat Cross at 1.05pm, returning to Balcarres Road via Loretto Corner and Millhill. At 3pm they ride from Balcarres Road to the Harbour via Goose Green Road to Eskside East, the Electric Bridge, New Street, Mountjoy Terrace, Fisherrow, Links Paths, Promenade to the Harbour. At 3.25pm they leave the harbour, travelling through New Street, Lochend Road North, North High Street, Bridge Street and Ladywell Way. Finally, at 3.55pm they make their way back to Balcarres Road through North High Street, Eskside West, the Electric Bridge, Eskside East and Goose Green Road.

Tomorrow (Friday), the official turf cutting ceremony gets under way and the Old Town Hall car park and car park to the east will be closed from 8am until 10.30pm.

The car park adjacent to Roman Bridge will be closed from 4pm until 10pm. Parking will be banned from 4pm to 10pm on various parts of the following roads: Inveresk Road, Mall Avenue, Olivebank Road, Newhailes Road, High Street, Linkfield Road, Millhill, Newbigging, Inveresk Road, Pinkie Road, Ravensheugh Road, Ravensheugh Crescent, Pinkie Terrace, Pinkie Drive, Edenhall Road, Park Lane, Inveresk Brae, Inveresk Village Road, Crookston Road, Dalrymple Loan, Milton Road, Brunstane Mill Road, Edinburgh Road, North High Street, Ladywell Way and Bridge Street.

On Saturday, the Civic Procession will again see the Old Town Hall car park closed 7am-4.30pm and parking restrictions in place. Sections of the following roads will be closed between 7am and 2pm: Harbour Road, North High Street, Bridge Street, High Street, Balcarres Road, Millhill, Linkfield Road, High Street, Mall Avenue, Olive Bank Road, Newhailes Road,

Parking will also be banned on Saturday and Sunday evenings for River (K)nights, with restrictions in place 4-10.30pm on part of North High Street, Bridge Street, Eskside West, Eskside East. Car parks at Eskside East and Shorthope Street will also be closed.

Sunday night will also see the fireworks finale and parking bans at Links View, New Street and James Street between 8pm and 11.30pm. Mountjoy Terrace will also be closed during that time.
