A MAN was hospitalised after three men entered his home and violently assaulted him.
At about 7.40pm yesterday (Sunday), the 36-year-old was at home when three men entered the property on MacBeth Moir Road near its junction with Moir Drive and carried out the attack.
The victim sustained an injury to his torso and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for medical attention.
He has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
Police officers from Dalkeith CID are now carrying out inquiries and are seeking the assistance of the public in an effort to trace those responsible.
In particular, police want to trace three men who were in the area around the time of this attack and who were seen walking towards Haddington Road.
Detective Constable Ian McCandlish of Dalkeith CID said: "We're satisfied this is an isolated incident, which has left the victim with significant injuries to his torso.
"From our inquiries so far, we know there were three men seen in the area around the time of this violent attack and I want to speak to anyone who saw them or who can help identify them."
