A WALLYFORD man who threatened to shoot patrons of a Musselburgh pub has been fined.

Mark Hunter told customers in the Coach and Horses public house he would get a gun and shoot them all, during a bust-up.

Fiscal depute Bruce McCrossan told Edinburgh Sheriff Court that trouble erupted in the High Street pub at about 8.15pm on November 16 two years ago.

Mr McCrossan said: “Shouting was going on just outside the front door and the accused was heard to say: ‘I’ll shoot you – I’ll shoot you all. I’m going to get a gun.’ “Not surprisingly, the man this was said to felt threatened and he summoned the police.

“The accused was away when the police arrived, but he was identified by photographs and he was eventually detained.”

Solicitor Mary Moultrie said that her client had been “shouting at no-one in particular” and he had been “shouting while on the other side of the road” from the pub.

Ms Moultrie added that Hunter, a self-employed painter and decorator, was “drunk at the time and has little recollection” of the events that night.

Sheriff Frank Crowe said that, as Hunter had “a bit of a record”, he would fine him £200. Hunter admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, acting in an aggressive manner and uttering threats of violence.
