A YOUNG amateur dramatic group are celebrating after developers Taylor Wimpey gave them a £750 boost.

Our Lady of Loretto Youth Players, which provide musical theatre experience for young people aged between 10 and 18, were looking for help raising funds to stage their next show.

One of the members, who lives in Taylor Wimpey East Scotland's Almond Park development, approached their team asking them to step in.

And they were delighted to play a part.

Lorna Stewart, production manager for the drama group, said: "Our focus is on fun and enjoyment, but we strive to produce as polished a show as possible - the music for each show is provided by a live orchestra along with professional sound and lighting systems and production crew.

"Our players pay a weekly amount that contributes to the cost of producing the show, but on average our shows cost around £10,000 to produce so we make up the difference with various fundraising.

“This donation from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland will go some way to securing various aspects of our next production which is West Side Story in February 2016, we’re looking forward to welcoming some of the team along to the show.”

Karen Armstrong, sales and marketing director for the developers said they were delighted to be able to support the group.

She said: "Each year, this local theatre company faces an uphill battle to raise the cash they need to be able to stage their annual show, so we are delighted to be able to step in and show our support in this way.”
