MUSSELBURGH Grammar School is celebrating record results in the Higher exams this year.

The school saw the number of students who gained at least one Higher rise by 10 per cent to 49.77 per cent compared to last year.

The number of pupils who gained three or more Highers also rose by 10 per cent to 32.39 per cent.

More than 12 per cent of students gained five or more Highers – double the number of four years ago.

Headmaster Colin Gerrie welcomed the results, saying it showed the school was moving in the right direction.

He said: “This is testament to the hard work and commitment of staff and students.”

Meanwhile the new senior team were named as the new term got underway at the school.

Head girl Amelia Stott and head boy Seth Allen will be supported in their roles by deputy head girl Morgan Naples and deputy head boy Jonathan Sharples.
