PUPILS at Loretto School in Musselburgh held a charity run to raise money for their former head boy, who was badly injured in a bicycle accident last summer.

Angus Oatts, 18, sustained serious head injuries just weeks after leaving Loretto for the last time last summer.

The popular teenager was on holiday in Slovenia when he was injured last July and spent almost a month in a coma, and funds are being raised to help his long-term recovery.

Angus, from Oban, was named head boy in 2013 and is making remarkable progress, according to the school.

He has been keeping friends and supporters updated on social media site Facebook over the last year and charity events have been held to support him.

Pupils at Loretto held a ‘Colour Run’ to help raise money for Angus at the weekend.

The Colour Run, which is often described as the happiest run on the planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality.

Involving bursts of colour and much hilarity, runners are doused from head to toe in different colours as they take part.

Jonathan Hewat, director of external affairs at the school, said: “Whilst Angus’ progress has been remarkable, he continues to recover at home but plans to start at Newcastle University this autumn.

“All who have met Angus will have been touched and moved by his ready smile, determination, positive outlook and the remarkable progress that he has made since the accident.

“The Loretto pupils have rallied round and supported Angus.

“This colour run meant such a lot, raised a good deal of money and all had great fun in the process.

“The sun shone, laughter, hilarity and a rainbow of different colours filled the air.” PUPILS at Loretto School in Musselburgh held a charity run to raise money for their former head boy, who was badly injured in a bicycle accident last summer.
