Ian Samson has been named the new president of the Rotary Club of Haddington.

The position of president changes at the end of June annually and last month the Haddington Rotarians and friends held a handover dinner at Garleton Lodge.

Thanks were expressed for all the hard work put in by Drew Ramsay, the outgoing president, and a warm welcome was extended to Ian.

Looking forward to his 12 months at the helm, Ian said: “The Rotary Club of Haddington is a community-based charity involved in many local and international causes.

“We have developed a good relationship with and support to organisations such as Blooming Haddington, the Haddington Garden Trust, Friends of the River Tyne, Haddington Day Centre and other groups and individuals.

“Internationally we support End Polio Now, Sand Dams in Africa and Literacy Boxes for Zambia, as well as providing funds for Shelter Box when a disaster occurs.

“I would like to invite anyone in the local area of Haddington to put forward ideas or suggestions which would be of benefit to an individual or group in the community.

“If you feel you want to learn more about being involved in what Rotary does or would consider joining the Rotary Club of Haddington then you would be made very welcome at our meetings on a Tuesday evening in the Maitlandfield House Hotel.
