A WHITE Volkswagen Golf from Haddington has been linked to a Glasgow robbery which saw about £250,000 of jewellery stolen.
Police Scotland detectives are continuing enquiries into the robbery within Argyll Arcade in Glasgow on September 24.
At about 12.50pm, four men, armed with weapons, entered Rox jewellers, smashed the display cabinet and managed to make off with a small quantity of jewellery before running off up a lane at the side of the Arcade’s Buchanan Street entrance.
The value of the jewellery was about £250,000.
The men then made off in a white Volkswagen Golf, which was later found abandoned on Castle Street, Townhead.
Now, it has been established that the white Volkswagen was stolen from “the Haddington area” in the early hours of the same day.
Detective Inspector Alasdair Barlow said there had been “a very good response” from the public, including mobile phone and CCTV footage.
He added: “I would like to speak to anyone in the Haddington area who may have seen a white Volkswagen Golf being driven in the area prior to the robbery.” The men spotted at the jewellers are described as white, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, and of slim build.
Anyone with any information should contact 101 or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
