Two men have been arrested and charged after a search of a house in Haddington found heroin and hundreds of pounds in cash.

The first man was arrested on Florabank Road on Tuesday, after he was stopped by officers and allegedly found to have a single wrap of the class A drug in his possession.

A short time later, Police Scotland said an intelligence-based search was carried out of a house in Carlyle Gardens.

There, officers found a quantity of cannabis, eleven further wraps of heroin and a three-figure sum of cash. A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Both men have been charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act and will appear in court at a later date.

Police Scotland Chief Inspector Andy Clark, area vommander for East Lothian, said: “Regardless of the quantity or the substance, the possession and distribution of drugs is a crime and we are committed to bringing those responsible for these offences to justice.

“We will continue to gather intelligence through our community patrols and engagement with the public and will act on any information relating to drug crime within East Lothian.

“Anyone found to be involved in crimes of this nature will be dealt with robustly.”
