Snapper's shock at competition win

A HADDINGTON man won a national photography competition for his snap taken at a county music festival - which was entered in a competition without him even knowing!

Steven's winning photo

Steven Ingle, 21, of Riverside Drive, was entered into Creative Scotland's 'See Us' competition by website Blipfoto.

He only became aware that his photo, showing a reflection of the Linkylea Festival in someone's sunglasses, had been submitted by the site when he received an email informing him he had won the competition.

The competition, designed to find an inspirational and creative image by someone aged 18-25, accepted entries throughout the whole of 2012 before one photo was chosen as the winner.

The photo is one of several which will become part of an exhibition and a book to be shown around the UK.

Members of the judging panel included author Ian Rankin violinist Nicola Benedetti.

Steven said: "I was super excited just about the Blipfoto official seeing my work, never mind winning the competition.

"I still can't really believe it, if I'm honest. When my photos are in the Creative Scotland exhibition, I'll be super happy - my first big achievement so far!"

Steven's work will also be part of an exhibition running in Dunbar's Bleachingfield Centre in February, containing various photos by locals of the 'Bridge to Nowhere' at Belhaven Beach.
