A WOMAN’S front door was repeatedly kicked as her partner demanded to get in.

Lee Rutherford turned up at the woman’s home in Haddington and behaved in a threatening and abusive manner.

The 26-year-old shouted at the woman and demanded entry to the property at Langriggs in January.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard that the incident was “over in a few seconds” and, despite Rutherford’s arrest, his partner was said to want the relationship to continue.

Solicitor Mr McClair said that his client had “left the home for a few days and she refused him entry” on his return.

The solicitor added that the incident was “a fairly minor” breach of the peace charge and that it had been a neighbour who had phoned the police following the incident on January 10.

Last Tuesday, Rutherford, of New Street, Musselburgh, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at the city court.

Sheriff John Cook heard that Rutherford was on a supervised release order at the time he committed the offence and refused to release him on bail. He will be sentenced later this month.
