A HIGH-STREET travel agent will close its doors next month.
The Co-operative Travel Store, at 67 High Street, Haddington, which is under the control of Thomas Cook, is due to shut in April, with customers facing a trip to Edinburgh’s Fort Kinnaird for the nearest Thomas Cook branch.
Kathryn Darbandi, director of retail and customer experience for Thomas Cook, told the Courier: “We continually review our store network to make sure we have the right stores in the right places for our customers. We have advised our customers in East Lothian that we are closing the Co-operative Travel Store on Haddington High Street.
“All staff have been offered roles in nearby stores, including the closest store in Edinburgh Fort.”
No date for the closure has yet been confirmed, although Thomas Cook has stated that it will be “at the beginning of April”.
Haddington still has a town-centre travel agent at nearby Sidegate, home of Elite Worldchoice Travel.
