A CARELESS driver who collided with parked vehicles and drove off without giving any of his details has been fined and had penalty points added to his licence.

David Ross, Southport Cottage, Lennoxlove Estate, drove without due care and attention at Poldrate, Haddington, last August.

Ross failed to properly control his vehicle and hit two stationary vehicles and caused them damage as he made his way along the street.

The 54-year-old then drove off after failing to stop and give any of his details to the vehicles’ owners.

Ross appeared at the capital’s sheriff court where he admitted two charges and had not guilty pleas to two further charges accepted by the Crown.

The driver admitted driving without due care and attention at Poldrate, Haddington, on August 19 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to stop and give details but was cleared of allegations he was driving while under the influence of drink or drugs and of failing to report the incident.

Sheriff Alistair Noble fined Ross a total of £480 for the two offences and ordered his licence to be endorsed with seven penalty points.
