A MILESTONE has been reached in the construction of the new East Lothian Community Hospital.

Work on the £70 million hospital, which is being built on the site of Roodlands Hospital, in Haddington, got under way last October.

Now, the Hospital Road entrance to the site closed yesterday (Monday), with traffic instead directed to the new entrance for the car park and hospital via Alderston Road.

New signage has been put up to direct people and members of the public will still be able to use the patient drop-off area outside the existing outpatient department and Surgical Block by following the one-way system.

The change frees up land at Roodlands for construction.
