A CHARITY founder tackling six gruelling challenges has ticked off number five.

Sara Fitzsimmons, who founded SiMBA (Simpsons Memory Box Appeal) almost a decade ago, scaled Ben Nevis last Sunday.

The 44-year-old spoke to the Courier last Tuesday morning and said: “It was good.

“It was hard, really hard, especially the coming down and the last two hours it was really quite heavy rain.

“It was clear at the top, though, and there were amazing views.

“I’m extremely stiff today though.” Already, Sara has completed a 26-mile Kiltwalk, climbed her first Munro, walked on fire, walked 20 kilometres and reached the top of Scotland’s highest peak.

Now, all that is left is the small matter of a 100-mile walk from Kirkintilloch to Dunbar, along the John Muir Way.

The charity was formed to help parents cope with the loss of a baby and to honour babies who have died, been stillborn or miscarried.

The Spott Road-based charity aims to recognise the “very traumatic experience” for a family when they lose a baby.
